Study on Zoonotic Helminths in Korea

Abstract
Despite helminthic zoonoses are of significantly importance to the public health and to the socioeconomic consequences, zoonotic helminths have received relatively little attention in the country. This documentary review includes classification and discussion of the helminths which have been found from man and animals up to date in the land from the epidemiological view-point so as to clarify their relationship to man and animals, and to present some basic information¡× for the identification of study field of zoonoses in Korea, hereafter. 1: Helminths found from man are 37 species; nematodes 13, trematodes 15, and cestodes 9. 2. Helminths imported by the returnees from overseas are 5 species; nematodes 1 and trematodes 4, respectively. 3. Human infection related helminths which have been reported from animals but not from man in Korea are 49 species; nematodes 28, trematodes 14, cestodes 6 and Acanthocephala 1, respectively.
